Cockroaches / Silverfish

Cockroaches / Silverfish

Cockroaches carry diseases and allergens, which makes them not only ugly but gross as well. Cockroaches are one of the most hated insects in the world. Especially when found in the home, but even the cleanest houses get them.  Cockroaches and their eggs are spread throughout the community in food and other packaging – although sanitation and hygiene are important deterrents, even the cleanest homes can become infested with cockroaches due to minute deposits of grease, sugar and other food sources in difficult to reach places.

Cockroaches rest during daylight hours in dark, hiding in warm and secure places and only emerge during the still of night to seek out and eat whatever food they can find. They even eat each other’s poo in order to extract all nourishment from organic food sources.  If you find a clump of pepper like specs in your kitchen, it is likely cockroach faeces marking out their courtship circle.  If left unchecked a cockroach infestation can rapidly expand their numbers to become a serious health risk.

There are several different kinds of cockroaches that intrude on our lives.

Our Treatment includes:

1. Apply liquid spray to base of internal and external walls.

2. Gel bait is applied to cupboard hinges.

3. Dust cracks, crevices and ceiling voids.

German Cockroaches

Found throughout the world; commonly found in restaurants, kitchens and stores where food and moisture are abundant; contaminate food, leave stains, create foul odours and carry disease organisms and germs.

Male German Cockroaches leave faeces in a courtship circle to prove to women how good a provider they are, which the female then leaves faeces for the kids for dinner – GROSS!  This process ensures that all available nutrition is taken from the food source.  Waste not want not?

Oriental Cockroach

Also known as black beetles; more sluggish than other species. These cockroaches are common in basements, crawl spaces, cracks and crevices of porches, foundations, and walkways adjacent to buildings. They feed on a wide variety of plant and animal material. The Oriental cockroach breeds well in unventilated crawl spaces or basements where humidity is high.

American Cockroach

Also mistaken for a water bug, the largest house-infesting species, about one and one-half inches long; reddish-brown wings with light markings on thorax

Brown Banded Cockroach

Easily recognized by alternating light and dark bands across its back; doesn’t multiply as fast as the German, but it is considered harder to control; often found high on walls in picture frames, behind moulding, near appliance motors, in light switches, closets and furniture.

Australian Cockroach

Despite the name this cockroach was probably introduced from Asia.  They have been dubbed the Australian Cockroach due to the prolific area of Australia it inhabits so well.

Although it is unreasonable to expect these Australian Cockroaches to refrain from entering a house after treatment, a treatment from Certified Property Solutions means that when you do see them in your home they should be dead or dying.

Silverfish are harmless, but these greyish-blue, serpentine creatures aren’t pleasant to have around the house. They feed on the bindings of books, dead skin cells and other starchy materials and thrive in dark, wet spaces.

Since silverfish are nocturnal, you may not see them during the day. Rather, you’ll probably become aware of their presence because of what they leave behind. Look for damp, dark areas with small spots of excrement that look like black pepper. Small holes and yellowish stains on clothing, wallpaper, cereal boxes and other cardboard or fabric materials.
